About Mark

I've been married to my wife, Katie, for 14 years.  We made the move to District 197 eight years ago with our two children Jack and Grace.  In 2020 we welcomed our third child, Claire.  We love our community and the small town feel.

My personal passions are running, hiking, camping, fishing and coaching my children's sports teams.

My roots of education began while attending public elementary, middle and high school in Bloomington, MN.  I graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1989 and continued on to receive my BA in Accounting from The University of St. Thomas and MBA in Accounting and Finance from University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management.

Hello!  I'm Mark Grondahl, a father, husband, friend and businessperson.

My 30 year career includes being a licensed CPA (currently inactive) and working with various sized financial institutions. I've developed and led diverse teams and worked with multi-million dollar budgets (expanding, contracting, efficiencies).  I understand finances and the need to be creative or take a new approach to maximize resources and results.  Currently I work for a large bank in the Risk Management and Information Technology departments. My expertise in these areas will be key in my role on the School Board; making me an ideal candidate, especially during these challenging times.

As a member of our community, I have coached my kids' sports teams (basketball, soccer, baseball, softball)...Go Warriors! I was Cub Scout den leader for five years.  I served on the University of St. Thomas Finance Curriculum Committee and have been involved with my children's school not only as a volunteer within the classroom, but as a member of the advisory council and finance committee.  I also facilitated the planning and fundraising for campus improvements including security, playground and green space.
